EVA Optic complies with NEN directive NPR 9200:2015
Metal suspension constructions and mounting materials in swimming pools are inherently situated in a demanding environment. After all, there are a few environments that demand more from lighting than a swimming pool. Heat, humidity and chlorine: the significant influence of these factors on products used in swimming pools is still often underestimated. In addition to these factors, the temperature changes in a swimming pool also cause damage to the suspension constructions and mounting materials. The primary type of damage that occurs is the corrosion of the metal parts of the suspension constructions and mounting materials. This increases the risk of failure and can create dangerous situations.
Origin of the directives
These risks have created a need for clarity in current situations, and for future ones, within the swimming pool sector. Which suspension constructions and mounting materials are suitable and with which requirements do they need to comply? In the past, research has been conducted and several guidelines have been drafted, but there was not a single, uniform guideline that was followed. Several parties in the marketplace, pertinent sectors, and the ministry of Internal Affairs took the initiative to create a unified Dutch Code of Practice. NPR 9200 applies to the entire construction chain: from client and designer to contractor, manufacturer and installer. Of course it also benefits the user: the owner and/or manager of the swimming pool.
NPR 9200:2015
NPR 9200:2015 indicates which materials can be used for metal suspension constructions and mounting materials in indoor swimming pools. In addition, the NPR provides guidelines for the necessary inspections. The NPR 9200 applies to all parts of suspension constructions and mounting materials in indoor swimming pools and applies to all pool spaces and spaces with an open connection to it. The NPR 9200 applies to both new and existing swimming pools for both public and private use. The NPR 9200 is not for plastic suspension constructions and mounting materials and/or roof constructions. The guidelines for these are explained in more detail in NEN-EN 1990.
From directive to standard
EVA Optic states that the metal suspension constructions and mounting materials used in our Aqua HE product line comply with NPR 9200:2015. While NPR 9200:2015 is not yet an official standard, EVA Optic has been following a publication based on its guidelines for years. The NEN’s goal is to transform NPR 9200:2015 into a standard in the future.
